Statement
My work draws upon new media, language, and landscape topography. These modes of operation allow me to shift between material artifacts and ephemeral experiences in a practice that is process-oriented and research-driven. I’m interested in sound and performance environments, properties of architectural space, open-source physical computing, and themes of perception and the sublime. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, I studied art and design before setting out for the islands of Japan. I spent three years there as a teacher, student, and nomadic observer of Asian cultures. On my return to the US in 2005, I moved to the borough of Queens in New York and recently completed a master’s degree in interactive media at New York University. Movement between cultures and geographies informs my work as I attempt to synthesize diverse concepts and vocabularies.
